             📚E.L.A.L📝

For E.L A.L, we did more persuasive writing using the OREO format.  We started to do our persuasive writing about what the best food is. We planned out our writing by using a chart. We had to do research about our favourite foods to put in the 4-sectioned chart. The 4 sections were about health benefits, best ingredients, different variations, and other facts. Then we put all  our research information in a good copy of our writing. For a bonus challenge, you had to try and not use the word “I”.

Then, we got introduced to our new debate topic: “Overall, are video games good or bad for child development?”.  We are researching the topic, and will make a video debate to share our opinion.

Grade 5 Social Studies

In social studies this week we started learning about the first European settlers to come to Canada. We learned that Jacques Cartier came to Canada in 1534. Later, in 1608 Samuel de Champlain came to Canada on the order of the king and founded the settlement of Quebec. We started learning about the impacts and influences of the French settlers on Canada. Some of the influences include our bilingual languages, the introduction of western religion/catholicism, and the introduction of western materials and tools.

 🇬🇷 Social Studies 6 🌎

This week we learn about Ancient Athens and democracy, the places where these people live and famous landmarks such as the pnyx, agora and especially the temple. The assembly took  place 40 times a year, at least 6000 members so they could start the vote, so it was so loud! They would make decisions about many Issues. Then we talked about TRIBe as a tribal society group of people who live in Greece and the citizens have been divided into 10 tribes with 50 members . We talked about the lottery, and names drawn by chance from a large number of choices.

  🔭Gr.6 Science Blog🧪

(grade 6 science)  In grade 6 science we have learned about elasticity and plasticity. Elasticity is when something is pulled and it returns back to its original state/shape.  plasticity is when something is pulled and it stays that shape and does not go back to its original state. For example we did experiments on the project by using balloons and plasticine. The balloon went back to its shape, and the plasticine ripped in half and stayed the same. Other examples are sponges, and trampolines, maybe even rubber bands. Plasticity examples are really everything: solid rocks, snow and more.
