Important Dates:

Math: 

Ms.Olson's Group- This week we finish learning about area, perimeter and volume. We revised how to find the area and perimeter of a rectangle or square. We also learned how to find the area of a triangle. 

Mr. Strother's Group- We also finished learning about area and perimeter and finished with a test on Thursday. 

Ms. Tucker's Group- We also finished learning about area and perimeter. We know that perimeter is the measure of the outside length and that area is how much space is inside a shape. 

ELA: This week we continued to learn about persuasive writing. We wrote a persuasive argument on what we thought was the best food/dessert. Before we could write we had to do research so that we had facts to support our opinion. Having facts makes for a stronger argument. 

Grade 5 Science: This week we started a new science unit about Energy. We are learning about the forces of flight. The forces of flight are 

• Drag- The force that slows you down

• Thrust- The force that pushes you forward

• Lift- The force that lifts you up

• Weight/gravity- The force that pushes you down

Grade 6 Social: 

In social studies are we are still learning about ancient Athens. We are learning about the important physical places in Athens. These were sights that were used for gathering, political discourse, important societal events.

Some of these locations are:

• Agora

• Acropolis

• Temples

• Pnyx
