Room 17/18 Blog Important Dates: No School: Good Friday- April 18th No School: Easter Monday/System PD- April 21st Grade 5 Field Trip- Weasel Head - April 30th Math This week in Ms. Olson and Ms. Tucker's math groups we started learning about symmetry in geometry. We learned about reflectional symmetry and rotational symmetry. On Monday we went outside and went on a scavenger hunt to try and find examples of symmetry in nature and in the real world. We also learned that symmetry is used a lot in indigenous, Metis, and Inuit art. We looked at a bunch of examples and now we are working to create our own symmetrical Art. In Mr. Strother's group we started learning about ratios, percents and decimals. We went outside and got to calulate batting averages and other statistics using these skills!
